その余⽩は、遠く隔てられた想像を引き寄せることもある。

⾒慣れた⾵景が、⼀つの層だけではなく、別の空間、別の時間の層が重なってくることでリアリティが⽴ち昇ってくる感覚は、個⼈的な喪失やパンデミックというこれまでに味わったことのない強い閉塞感と重なっていたから、というだけではないような気がします。

私たちは世界をあるがままに⾒ているのではなく、経験や記憶、知識や習慣という回路を通してそれを認識しています。そしてそれは、⾵景が決して固定されたものではなく、刻々と変化し続けていることを思い出させてくれます。

この絶えず変わり続ける⾵景の余⽩からふと覗く、異なる⾵景。それをひととき、紙の上に留めてみようと思ったのです。

The blank sometimes invite distant imaginings to draw near.

The feeling that reality emerges when familiar scenes become layered with other spaces and times does not seem to come solely from the personal loss or the unprecedented sense of confinement brought on by the pandemic.

It is because we do not see the world as it is, but perceive it through the circuits of experience, memory, knowledge, and habit. It also reminds us that the landscape is never fixed, but constantly shifting from moment to moment.

I thought I would try to capture on paper for a moment the different landscapes that peek out from the margins of this ever-changing landscape.
